Hamilton Field

Hamilton Field in South Novato had a long history of flying machines. It has sadly (from a flying point of view) been reduced to a few hardy RC modelers who are willing find an unmonitored spot to get a quick flight or two.

Saturday and Sunday mornings once found maybe 20 RC'ers on the bay side of the jogging path near the library. That is now a murky pond... The whole area is being returned to a natural marshy state by importing loads of dirt to cover up the old runways. It is being opened to the bay tides.

Flying near here is sometimes tolerated - it is not a right. During construction, flyers may be asked to leave. Please be extra considerate regarding the nearby housing and the frequent "civilians" using the jogging path.

Local residents report noisy flyers, and police are asking them to leave. It is not recommended that you even try flying fuel planes or noisy electrics (such as Zagi-types) here.
